medical mission by Maharlika Foundation in Marawi City

On May 1o, 2oo9, at exactly 3.3o am, from Matina, Davao, the caravan started, composed of One Mobile Operating Theater Unit, One Maharlika Bus, and four private vehicles. Maharlika Charity Foundation, Inc Surgical Mission on Cataract, Squint, Pterygium, Cleft Lip and Dental Extration officially began. Illustrious passengers of this caravan are composed of the team of Surgeons in the persons of Dr. Rizal Aportadera, Dr. Benedict Valdez, Dr. M. Aportadera, Dr. M. Libre, Dr. E. Embalsado ably assisted by volunteer Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, nurses, technicians, assistants, Maharlika office staff, photographers 'Chiaw Yap and Joey Gloria, as well as Board of Trustees Chairman, Rosauro "Jun" Borromeo with illustrious Trustee Members, Mesdames Betty Capili and Letty Averion. Yours truly, fortunate enough to be invited as a Volunteer trekked the rough and rugged montain trails that would bring us to the highlands of Marawi City, the islamic capital of Lanao del Sur.

This particualr mission, made possible after a series of several visits and negotiations with Governor Mamintal "bombit" Adiong, Jr.and the Mindanao State University headed by its Presidents, MacapadoA. Muslim, was a resounding success. Both their staff left no stones unturned in acomodating the entire Maharlika Volunteers for four days from pre-operating procedures, to halal meals and the royal banquet that left all of us mesmerized and impressed at the rare gesture of goodwill and friendship offered by our Muslim Brothers and sisters in this outlying part of Mindanao.

We saw nobility in the culture of this Muslim Region, felt it, even touched it. But truly nobles are the Maharlika volunteers who gave their talents, skills and unselfish time and effort for free, a magnanimous contribution to the less fortunate, victims of circumstances and misfortune. people who would never have afforded treatment neither made available to them. They saw their rewards in being dramatic instrument for those who cannot see and now can see, for those with congenital defects and now are made whole. Maharlika restored their dignity and now are given a chance to be productive members of their community. The rest is up to them.

kapampangan development foundation

Dear Sylvia

Yesterday, friday, may 8 and today, saturday, may 9, 2009, I witnessed successful surgery of 60 cataract patients held in Bacolor at the Dr V. Datu Medical Clinic. I understand, by tomorrow the goal for 100 patients will have been reached.

"I was half-blind yesterday and today I can see!" This is the jubilant cry of one patient.

This medical mission spearheaded by KDF = Kapampangan Development Foundation is doing a miraculous job.
You solicited help from us, we your classmates are responding. We raised PHP 20,000 as the first batch of classmates class 66 and presented the check to Pip Villanueva. We expect the 2d, 3d and 4th batches of classmates to heed your call.

In the spirit of goodwill, friendship and love, we remain
Evelyn Mercado, Aurora Santos, Teresita de Leon, Ana Paras, Felicidad Dizon, Lucill Romero, Aida Calma, Corazon Crisostomo, Elena Gueco, Paulina Pamintuan and Pomona Pamintuan

psi training

This is written from my perspective. this is how my mind digested the inputs i received from the training. i am writing this to share my thoughts on how this training has affected my conscious mind. I accepted the agreements to be on time, to put off my cellfone, to take away my watch, finish all sessions, to change seats, discover new seatmates, avoid side talking, treat private things confidential. to listen and by listening, be SELECTIVELY OPEN. .

Kabayan Manong Driver, how much will you charge me from here, Las Pinas, to Ortigas, San Miguel Ave., DAP Building, Development Academy of the Philippines?" The day was Saturday, April 18, 2oo9, Time, 7:3o am. After complaining about the higher package rate he gave compared to a normal taxicab rate when the meter is plugged down, I sat reluctantly and agreed. I wanted to keep my agreement to arrive on time for the third day of the 4-day Leadership Success Seminar conducted by PSI (Purposeful Stewardship Institute. While seated, I opened my wallet and counted the money I was ready to part with. But NO, I said to myself. I will not sulk. I will enjoy the 4o minute drive with the cab driver inside his dilapidated taxicab and his bloated rate.. Brod, alam mo ba na mayaman ka? He smiled gently and shook his head. I continued and said, Your Mind is your most powerful tool, and it is the true source of wealth. He lowred the volume of his radio. I will explain further, I volunteered. What I just said simply means , your mind has the ability to make or unmake you.. The driver, obviously was seeking for a more comfortable explanation.. I felt it was my duty to clarify. First, I cleared my throat , inhaled and exhaled positive energy. I picked this exercise from a classmate. . Listen, Brod. What the mind achieves. the body percieves. TO THINK IS TO CREATE. I Make an affirmation. You set your goal. Say I work hard today for my family so that i can reach my boundary and will have enough leftover as my net income for the day. . I serve the passengersl by being polite, courteous and friendly. The result is I have enough leftover after deducting the boundary and meal expenses. There was a series of happy talk that followed. Soon, I reached my destination. I gave the prepared money and wished him a nice day. He stopped and asked to wait and gave me ffifty Pesos as my change. Isaid no, that was the fare we agreed upon . He said, No Ma'am, you get a discount. I said, keep it, it is yours, it is your tip INTENTION PLUS MECHANISM EQUALS RESULTS. What a joyful ride. SUFFERING IS OPTIONAL . It is WIN-WIN. Driver was happy and so was I.

There are endless workshops that is exciting as it is informative and revealing. For future participants, i will not go into details so aot to rob you of your rewards.

I made a mental confession to my sponsor and organizers of this course for having perceived this training program as needless and unsuitable for me who have walked the walk in the game of life. What else could it be? My pattern was challenged. I allowed this to happen by submitting myself to be selectively open. I still had the choice to like what I like. to use it if it fits and let it go if it does not fit. Lo and behold, I took off my clothes of program, cause it smelled. My victim's story was on replay, never ending. My Best Sellers. My best programs are my 3 Rs, Resentment, Resistence and Revenge. No, i did not have them, my neighbor had them. Not Me. How could I be responsible for a situation I did not create. Oh no, not me.. My old programs are working. I am self Righteous. I wanted to drop someone else's victim's story. I could not until I admit the tiny part that is mine, own it and then, I could drop it. I have power over it because I can hold it, and then drop it. There, I just dropped it. Away with i.t. Goodbye, we shall part. I start today. Now. Not someday. .
Old clothes off. I put a new garment, in shimmering splendor. GIVERS GAIN - TaKERS LOSE. "I will, if you will" attitude expects returns from what is put out. The concept of 'as you sow, so shall you reap." is misunderstood This law guarantees that you will get exactly what you put out, but it does not say that it will come back from the same source. It only states that you will receive amounts of love and peace equal to what you have given. AGAPE! It means doing something for somebody who will never know. It is expecting nothing in return. This universal law is simple/ It is finding peace by going within. The answers we seek are already part of us. Peae of mind. We start to do things for the right reasons. Many of the Givers in life become overpowered by the Takers. Onlly the committed GIVERS survive. .And when I start living life as a GIVER, I will fall in love with meself and with life.

We had a Banquet on the last day of the course. The management was generous, so I thought. We were told to bring food for ourselves and add a little something for one person. The dedicated staff and graduate volunteers prepared a setting of Fiesta by arranging the food we brought nicely, neatly and professionnally into an elaborate setting. I hardly recognized the food I bought. It said," Share me and don't say it is from you."
No credits, no aknowledgements. Complete and Absolute Love. . It is not for Sale. It is Free. NO TAKERS, ONLY GIVERS.

Having said all of the above, i still left a big slice for all of you to savor , future participants. I can afford to give only the Appetizer.
